Blankets.... no thanks....
Blanketing your horse can be a necessety, for horses that are to old or to sick to do without. But most horses, and horses that go on trail rides should not be blanketed. Because it inflicts on the ability to regulate their Body temperature. Horses bodies are far better in thermo regulation than human bodies.
Their surface to volume ratio of horse is volumes better than ours. Their entire gut system is one giant furnace heating the horse. Plus depending on the type of horse, they will either produce a thicker layer of fat in the skin, or more fur on top. Plus they can make their hair stand up, for more insulation, while heating parts of their body by micro fibration. Functionality that we lost in evolution. Trail horses should be held robust, and not stabled. They should always be supplied with enough feed, to keep their gut working.
