2021 09 Trans Caucasian trail
Day 20
We had blacktop for three hours before we turned into a gravel road. We followed the river upstream and had to cross it a couple of times. The horses were always hesitant, cause of the noise of steel on steel. We rode through a rather populated village with a school and the big church held a promise of a nearby pub, but not so here. We rode on the gravel road and the valley was close 1 km wide, completely filled with rocks of the riverbed only occasionally, we would find a patch of green.
At about 5 in the afternoon we came upon a chappell, with some good grass. We put up camp and sat at the campfire for the longest time. Men were walking by with a dog and chatting with Lasha. Later a truck, stacked high with hay, girls sitting on top of the load hanging on to ropes. Drive by. We heard the noise of a chainsaw in the distance that finally stopped when there was no more light.
